G'day fine people
I hope somebody can help me, because I have no clue anymore.
1. I have 3 HTPC's. Through advancedsettings.xml they share the moviedatabase through a Synology/MariaDB.
2.
This has worked perfect for years (hence, being happy about that, I donated beer to the good cause, OE and XBMC/Kodi devs
![:woohoo: :woohoo:]()
).
3. Suddenly, last week, HTPC2 was having weird problems (in the main GUI, select 'Movies' , OE suddenly shows 'waiting for network to connect' + 'extended wait for server to wake up'). However, HTPC1 and HTPC3 were not having any of these problems. Also, the Synology (1815+) was eating out of its nose (Dutch joke, means 'was bored'
![:P :P]()
) while serving the MySQL/MariaDB processes from the three HTPCs (so: I rule out any Synology problems). My netwerk is CAT6, gigabit to HP Procurve switches. Not much going on on my network anyway, so no performance bottlenecks there either.
4. I decided to upgrade all three HTPC's from OE 6.0.1 to 6.0.3. That went without problem., but the problem remained.
5. I reset all settings in the OE GUI, meaning I had to customize everything audiocard, video display etc, anew. I did.
6.
Now comes the second weird thing:
7. I copied
all config files from my
working HTPC3 to this troublesome HTPC2. So advancedsettings.xml, sources.xml, profiles.xml, I copied them from HTPC3 (storage/.kodi/userdata/) to the problem HTPC2 (storage/.kodi/userdata/). I manually visually checked: yes, these files are the same on both HTPC's.
8. I reboot troublesome HTPC2: it does have an IP (192.168.2.32, static, normal), but it does not have the sources 'Movies', 'Series', so I also don't get, in the main OE screen, 'Movies', 'Series', etc. And of course therefore also not 'Recently added movies', 'recently added series', etc. (Btw I don't use any mods or skins or whatever: simply stock Confluence).
9. I can manually go to videos/add source, browse to my Synology (I use NFS), set the directory for Movies again, tell it it is Movies, select the right scraper, etc. OE doesn't remember these settings at all. I can do this a 1000 times, it doesn't remember the directory 'Movies' is type 'Movies' with scraper 'The Movie DB'. Whenever I return to it it is set to 'none'.
So:
A. I had something that worked for years. On 6.0.1.
B. Suddenly it was waiting for a 'network server to wake up etc'.
C. I reset everything, and then copied the config files from HTPC3. Rebooted.
D. What worked on HTPC3 does not work on HTPC2. Suddenly.
E. I have-no-clue.
Ah, I forgot:
F. I took my spare HTPC4 (same hardware as the other three) and put in the SSD of the troublesome HTPC2. This, to rule out some weird hardware problems (originally, I also ran memtest from USB stick for 24 hours, no problems, and I even put in another brand new Intel NIC to rule out NIC problems). HTPC4 with the SSD from problem-HTPC2 has exactly the same problem. So it is not hardware, but something somewhere on the HDD (= SSD) = something in OE.
G. I enabled debugging mode, I have all the logs here, but I have no clue what to look for. Where should I put the logs? Attach to this topic, or?
Could anybody perhaps help me out of my misery? I'm being very frustrated about this sudden very strange problem.
Thank you very much in advance
Bye,
