Hi,
I've noticed that the piratebay.se domain keeps failing for me (most likely due to australian blocking etc)
I was hoping I could either find and edit the domain or clone the provider to add it as my own but I can't find where the providers are stored with AUDO installed.
does anyone know? or if not does anyone know what settings I would need under the custom provider page?

RPi 3 Model B - OE 8.0.4 overheating issue - by: loupalladino

I ran an old OE version for months without issue - I updated to 8.0.4 a few months ago and now I run into overheating issues every few days where I get the red thermometer in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and the system is dead. I pull the plug and let the device cool down, then I power up again and everything works great until the next time it overheats. There doesn't seem to be any trigger for the overheating - it typically happens while the system is sitting idle at the home screen. I am not overclocking the Pi and I am using heat sinks on both the GPU and CPU. Anyone else having issues like this?

Creating a usb boot stick - by: Laney

Hi there.
I'm trying to install openelec into a NUC dccp847dye. I'm new to Windows, and I'm struggling!
I've followed a guide that requires me to create a usb stick to boot from.
I download the latest stable version of openelec, and extract files with winrar.
When I then open file all I have is licenses, target, changelog, readme and release.
There is no create boot stick option or exe file of any sort.
I've searched forums etc, but people seem to be having problems booting from the usb, whereas I can't even create one!
Any help would be appreciated.

Laney.

You can download the add-on from here:

KODI patch for -banner -clearlogo -discart etc... - by: darknior

Bonjour,

Hello,

I noticed that you use patch for Kodi/Xbmc on OpenELEC.

Kodi/Xbmc can't import local banner, discart, clearlogo, .... for movies.
The only way to get this kind of images is to use addon like "Artwork Downloader" but there is no one which can import this images.

So I think you can add a patch in openelec to do it like this :

File : xbmc/video/VideoThumbLoader.cpp
Function : GetArtTypes

This change allow import of banner, discart, clearlogo,.. directly with Xbmc and it works for Dharma to lastest git version.
Xbmc team members do not allow this kind of change because it's hard coded and it should not be.

Kodi as Youtube TV, pair with phone/tablet - by: shiben

Hi, I am using kodi on a RPI2+openelec installation and I was looking for kodi youtube add-on to be paired with say my phone, on which I can browse youtube but play it straight on kodi.

This is generally available in smart TVs, they allow pairing the TV with phones and it is a lot of fun, because multiple friends can pair with your TV and they can queue videos. It is a very nice social feature and I wish it could work with Kodi.

The main problem is that using youtube addon on kodi (or using youtube app on any smart TV for that matter) is cumbersome, mainly the browsing part.

Does such an addon exist? If no, why doesn't it?

This only requires "youtube.com/tv" to be running on fullscreen on Kodi. Rest is all handled by youtube.
I am alright with ads, and alright with SD quality. Sometimes social convenience is more important than quality :)

FM radio receiver for KODI for the Raspberry Pi 1 - by: AlbrechtL

RTL SDR FM streamer is a small tool to stream FM radio by using a DVB-T dongle to KODI on your Raspberry PI 1. The DVB-T dongle has to be based on the Realtek RTL2832U. See sdr.osmocom.org/trac/wiki/rtl-sdr for more RTL SDR details.

The program "rtl_fm_streamer" uses the DVB-T dongle only as an ADC (simply spoken). All the demodulation is done in software and thus it is creating a CPU load of 57 % on the Raspberry Pi 1.

Installation:
  1. Download "service.multimedia.rtl_fm_streamer-0.0.6.zip" from the attachment
  2. Upload this file to your OpenELEC device
  3. Install the add-on. Follow this description: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_add-ons_from_zip_files
  4. Create a STRM-file with the URL"http://IP:port/FrequencyInHerz" (default port is 2346) in your music folder
    e.g. FM_93_2.strm
  5. Only working at a Raspberry Pi 2: For stereo sound create a STRM-file with the URL"http://IP:port/FrequencyInHerz/1" (default port is 2346) in your music folder
    e.g. FM_93_2_stereo.strm
  6. Restart your Raspberry Pi and play the STRM-File e.g. FM_93_2.strm

Known KODI Addons
Supported platforms
  • Raspberry Pi 1
  • Raspberry Pi 2

Troubleshooting:
If it is not working test "rtl_fm_streamer" by starting by hand. The output should look like the following.

Tested with OpenELEC 6.0 Beta 4

You can find the source code here:

When you want to play media in your living room, there are countless options nowadays. You can buy an Apple TV, Xbox One, Roku, or something else. Of course, for some people, a self-built home theater computer is a more rewarding experience. Thanks to Linux and solutions like Kodi, it can be easy to build a very capable media center machine.

Today, popular Linux distro OpenELEC reaches version 8.0 stable. This operating system leverages Kodi to provide a well-rounded media center experience. Not only are there images for PC, but for Raspberry Pi and WeTek boxes too.

"OpenELEC 8.0 (internal version 8.0.0) release has been published. Users running older OpenELEC releases or with auto-update disabled will need to manually update. If you would like to update from an older OpenELEC release please read update instructions/advice on the Wiki before updating," says Stephan Raue, OpenELEC.
Raue further explains, "OpenELEC 8.0 release contain a Kodi major version bump. If you are updating from OpenELEC 7.0 or earlier we strongly recommend you perform a full backup before performing a manual update. If you experience issues please perform a soft-reset to clear OpenELEC and Kodi settings."

The OpenELEC team shares the following changes.

Openelec Stream to TV in Another Room - by: skywlker32

I currently have my media computer, w/ openelec installed hooked up to a smart tv in the living room. I am looking for a way to stream the video to a tv in another room with the least cost. I initially thought about doing this via chromecast, but the process seemed to be lengthy for each time you want to cast something. Is there another method to stream this content or am I out of luck?

Kodi crash, when viewing high resolution images - by: pipsen

Hi,

here is my setup:
Kodi 17.3 with OpenELEC 8.0.4 hosted on a RPi3.
I am using an NFS share of my NAS to host a file structure with jpeg pictures inside.
I think, that doesn't matter, because I have the same problem with locally stored pictures.

Here is the problem:
When I view pictures which have a high resolution, (e.g. 10 MP), Kodi crashes.
As soon as I resize the images to e.g. 1920 x 1080, Kodi stays stable.

I found some threads with similar problems, but never a solution, that works for me.

github.com/xbianonpi/xbian/issues/834

For example this solution: I can not find that GPU setting at my KODI.

Any ideas?
