since a lot of people have been asking me - by: lsellens

Yes, audo works on libreelec. Libreelec however does not have a transmission addon in their repo. I added a build in my repo that works with libre 7.0.X it will not work on the alpha builds. I'll update it when they get out of alpha. I don't care to, or have time to support alpha builds. If you're running an alpha build its my option you should know how to build software yourself.

Official IOS remote error with windows SMB shares - by: g12345567

I have a problem with the Official IOS Kodi Remote APP. (latest version) on an iPhone 5 running IOS 8.1.2

Opelelec 6.0.3 on my HTPC is detected by the official IOS remote app.

Problem I keep having is when I when I select music, movies, TV shows or pictures. Connect to the shared workgroup and then click the computer name to bring up the shared folders on another networked computer running windows 10. The app always displays the following error instead of displaying the shared folders.

Any ideas on what this error is and how to fix? Basically all I want to do is be able to connect to the shared folders on a Windows 10 PC with the app so I can play the media without having to turn on the TV to see what's happening.

Rugged MCU In High Temperature Situation - by: Jane123

$

The Z86C08/04 is a high temperature masked ROM microcontrollers operating at 3.0 V to 5.5 V voltage ranges suitable for applications that require a general-purpose MCU to operate at sustained elevated temperatures. It offers easy software and hardware system expansion, with fourteen digital inputs at CMOS levels, and software enabled watchdog timer.

Unlike some Flash-based MCUs that are guaranteed to operate at 150°C for only 40 to 310 days, the High Temperature Z86C08 MCU can operate at a temperature of 150°C for many years without experiencing program memory data retention issues. Such applications can include under-the-hood automotive applications, deep drilling, aircraft propulsion systems, HVAC applications, high-power motor/generator systems, industrial, instrumentation, and distributed control applications (e.g., natural resources exploration & production), as well as military applications.

For applications demanding powerful I/O capabilities, Zilog’s Z86C08(www.kynix.com/Category/) MCU’s dedicated input and output lines are grouped into three ports, and are configurable under software control to provide timing, status signals, or parallel I/O. Two on-chip counter/timers, with a large number of user-selectable modes, offload the system of administering real-time tasks such as counting/timing and I/O data communications.

“Under the ‘world of IXYS’, where a large part of our products see high temperature operations, especially in the power electronics markets, it’s inevitable to offer rugged MCU’s for digital power control that can operate at higher temperatures. Reliable operation over a prolonged duration makes the Z86C08 High Temperature ROM device an excellent solution for hot environments where the loss of a programmed application in Flash memory is a typical constraint,” remarked Steve Darrough, Zilog VP of Marketing.

Features

Two standby modes
Two counter/timers
ROM Protect
Low-voltage Protection
2 Analog Comparators
Watchdog Timer
Power-on Reset
RC Oscillator Option
14 I/O Lines
Auto latch option
Clock-free WDT reset
3.0 to 5.5 operating voltage

Can anyone advise me how to network a laptop to a gbox mx2 so that i can gain access to the update folder in the gbox so i can update my current openelec xbmc gotham 13.2 to latest kodi 15.2 isengard ! A step by step instruction on how to network the 2 together or an alternative method of installing the kodi update just using the gbox itself connected to the tv only with the gbox remote control would be appreciated.

cannot update Movies until E in the alphabet - by: parafux

I installed openelec with kodi properly, internet connection worked and the movie database could be created, but only until some movie in the alphabeth character E, all other movies after that are discarded, the library update is quite fast when running over all of the rest of my 1300 movies. but i cannot see any information about all movies above that one higher than E.

additionally i also cannot download any addon, i see all addons in the list, but i cannot download, i get the error download not possible.

i also checked on windows 10 the sd card. i have a 32 GB SD card with
* one 32 MB ext4 partition that is totally used, no free space anymore
* one 3.5 GB primary FAT partition where only 120 MB are used
* one 25 GB unallocated partition

could it be that the ext4 partition must be enlarged? could it be that openelec/kodi needs more space to store the downloaded data (movie information / addons)?

has anybody encountered problems like this.

I really wonder, because i tried to install openelec many times but i never managed to run this programm with my full 1300 movie library completly properly.

compared with openelcec i now also tried OSMC, that worked very well, also with addons and also with my complete movie library, but (and that is the problem) my remote control works except the info-key, which is absolutely necessary for me. openelec works well with the info-key. that is why i want to get openelec running also with my complete movie lib.

thanks for your help in advance

Wolfson card - SPDIF IN to Speakers not working - by: avkhid

$

Hi,

Need your help!

I am trying following setup and it is not working. Please note that my Wolfson card is already configured and working fine with anything that is being played via RPI inputs (USB HDD, Kodi apps etc.). Current setup is, its mounted on RPi3 and its playing music from my HDD that is connected to RPi3 (via USB). My RPi3 is also outputting local HDD media to TV via HDMI.

Use case: I have connected my FireTV stick to TV (TV is connected to RPi3 via HDMI cable ARC compatible) and I want the audio from the programs played on TV from FireTV stick to play on external speakers connected to Woflson Card on RPi3.

So far from my reading, I understand the RPi3 does not support ARC audio playback from TV (Please let me know if this is possible though).

Hence as an alternative, I am trying to connect my TV Toslink audio output to RPi3 via Wolfson card SPDIF input/RX and get output to the speakers connected to Wolfson speaker terminals (amplified ones). Since SPDIF on Audio card only takes Coaxial input, I have purchased a cheap Toslink optical to Coaxial cable converter and connected TV to Wolfson Card.

However, this setup is not working and no audio is being output to speakers or line out. Can you please help me to resolve this issue?

So in summary, any source connected to RPI3, I can get the output on Wolfson audio card speakers. However, any source directly connected to Audio card and trying to output through audio card speaker terminals don't work.

Following is what my UDEV looks like:

# init wolfson card, enable SPDIF, lineout and headset playback
SUBSYSTEM=="sound", ACTION=="add|change", ATTR{id}=="sndrpiwsp", \
RUN+="/usr/bin/SPDIF_playback.sh -q", \
RUN+="/usr/bin/Playback_to_Lineout.sh -q", \
RUN+="/usr/bin/Playback_to_Headset.sh -q", \
RUN+="/usr/bin/Playback_to_Speakers.sh -q"

cannot read HD video anymore - by: fouilloux

Hi everyone.
I have a raspberry Pi 2 with openelec on it that was working perfectly. Unfortunetly, I shut id down a bit brutally and it stop working.
I installed it again from scratch, and now I can not read HD video anymore. When I launch one, the audio is fine, but the video is very slow and not fluid at all.

The video are stored on a USB hard drive and the screen is an HDMI TV screen. (It was working perfectly before I re-install everything)

I tried the following modification:
- overclock the raspberry to
- create a .kodi/userdata.advancedsettings.xml with the following content:
<advancedsettings><network><buffermode>1</buffermode><!-- Comment: Default is 1 -->
<cachemembuffersize>83886080</cachemembuffersize><!-- Comment: Default is 20971520 bytes or 20 MB -->
<readbufferfactor>10</readbufferfactor><!-- Comment: Default is 1.0 --></
network><lookandfeel><enablerssfeeds>false</enablerssfeeds></lookandfeel></advancedsettings>
(I also tried, cachedmembuffersize, 0, 20MB and 40MB)
- Activate/deactivate material acceleration.
- Make a voudou dance around the tv.

Here are the logs of what happens when I launch a movie:

Remote control stopped working. CECLog shows error - by: amemo06

Hi,
since 1 or 2 weeks CEC stopped working.
I'm with Openelec 6.0.3 on Rpi2. The TV is a Samsung and of course Anynet+ is active
It worked flawlessly up to now.
No clue when occured the upgrade to 6.0.3. But I guess it is not the issue as mostlikely the upgrade was before.

In the debug log or issuing cec-client command, I get:

in the rpi file I have

In the /flash/config.txt I tried to comment the command hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1
and I did not tried to set hdmi_force_hotplug.

When openelec/kodi starts I have the popup which says CEC starts, then I have an error message.

I have just no clue what to do.
I tried with a different HDMI port on the TV and also a different HDMI cable. No way.
I tried to shutdown all and unplug. No way
I also reinitialised all options to default in the System menu of the remote.
From the TV, it does not find any Anynet capable device

Something has changed but I do not find what.

Cannot restore settings after update from 4.2.1 - by: adriman

Hello!
I updated my openelec pc following all the steps. I was on 4.2.1 versión, so I made a backup of my settings (I obtained a file about 11gb size) and updated to the latest stable versión. The process was easy, but when the system boots up It was on Factory settings. All my data is there, but not add ons installed and not my settings.
I tried to restore from my backup, It takes for about 5 minutes to restart, but when It does it's again n Factory settings.
What can I do to restore my settings? At least most of them...

Machine wont startup or suspend correctly - by: prostuff1

I am in the process of setting up a new HTPC and am wanting to use Openelec.

Here is the kodi.log file: sprunge.us/Pdjc
Here is the output of dmesg: sprunge.us/YiVa

The hardware is as follows:
Intel DH77DF motherboard
8GB of RAM
60GB mSATA
Harmony 700 set up as Windows Media Center

The board has an onboard CIR that registers as nuvoton in Device Manager under Windows. It shows up once drivers are installed as a Microsoft eHome compatible IR receiver. The receiver seems to work fine with Windows, meaning I can start up the box and shut down the box without issue. It appears the box goes into hibernate, which is fine with me. The box works with the "Power On" and "Power Off" of the above configured remote.

When I have Openelec up and running I can not start the box with the remote, it will shut down using the "Power Toggle" option, but not the Power Off. I am not able to power back on the machine with the "Power Toggle" after it has shut down. I have tried setting the option in Openelec(kodi) that a powerdown is really a suspend, but that does not work for me either. It goes into suspend, last for about 4 seconds, and then come right back on.

I found this thread on the intel forum that supposedly mentions that installing Windows and the driver might get it magically work... that was not the case for me. I have Windows currently installed on the mSATA drive and am running Openelec from a thumb drive for testing purposes in an attempt to get this working.

Here is a pdf layout of the board in case that helps anyone.

If I run "irw" from ssh the below is what shows up. If I have the machine set to shutdown then the box turns off, if I have it set to suspend then I get the machine coming back on after 4-5 second. The last thing that shows up with irw running is:

Turn off sys i information bubbles/notifications? - by: dubster

Does anyone know if there's any way of turning off the system information bubbles ?
Theyt come up looking like an i in a bubble with some text.

I keep getting one coming up saying disks and storage have been mounted, unmounted etc.
Doesn't seem to affect anything, but really gets in the way whilst you're watching stuff.
I've tried everything to get to the bottom of it, and until openelec comes out with the next version then I don't really want to do a reinstall.
It's got a full PC power supply and only 1 usb port in use, so I can't see it's a power issue, especially as it's only on an Asus E45M1 which is low power.

So it would be good to turn off the little i system information bubbles if at all possible.

Anyone ?

Thanks

If you use a Raspberry Pi as a media center running Kodi on LibreELEC or OpenELEC, you like retrogaming and you want to launch games just as you do with movies and tv shows without dual-booting, swaping SD memories, complex installations... Here you have the definitve solution.

With this addon you will continue with your own customized Kodi but empowered including:
- Retroarch multi-emulator frontend with joypad configs,
- AdvancedLauncher addon with default emulators list and a custom skin,
- Emulationstation frontend,
- Amiga UAE4ARM emulator included in AdvancedLauncher and Emulationstation frontends,
- Some test freeware roms.

Also, you will have the choice of one-click installation of:
- Internet Archive ROM Launcher addon to launch games from the "cloud",
- 3 GameMaker Pi ports including modern masterpiece "Maldita Castilla".

This is still a work in progress project, please visit project page in github for more information, post installation instructions, credits and more: goo.gl/MyeLn9

Any improvement, collaborations, corrections are welcome!!!

WeTek Play bootup? - by: Geeba

Dug out a WeTek Play I had doing nothing and thought I would start to use it as an Openelec device to replace my aging ION mini PC, I downloaded the .img file and created the mSD card, hard booted the box and went through the setup and it all looked fine.

Problem is if I turn the WeTek off with the remote, when I boot it up again it doesnt go to Openelec but back to the WeTek setup wizzard? - is there anyway to hard install openelec to nand? or to make it boot always from the SD card? - I really want a pure openelec box as I dont need another android device on the TV. ;)

Pointers appreciated.

Hello et all,

I'm new in the forum and I hope my post is in the correct forum place. So please help me if I'm doing wrong, thanks a lot.

I'm using openelec since a long time and I like it very much. Now i bought a new Zotac ZBOX CI323 and tried to install openelec 6.03. Installation went well without any problems but after reboot the Kodi logo comes up dismantled and the system freezes. With a Kodi 7 beta 6.95.3 install Kodi comes up but tvheadend client didn't work and a second monitor on HDMI port didn't work too. Only a monitor on the display port is showing a screen.

New ZBOX CI323 with Intel Celeron N3150 / 1.6 GHz / Quad-Core with Intel HD Graphics

Does someone may have a tip for me how to get openelec 6 run on this new box or how to to get tvheadend client to run on Kodi 7 beta 6.95.3?

Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

Surround Sound not working on ION Motherboard - by: panusha

Hello everybody!

I have just installed OpenELEC. So far, everything is working fine except for the surround sound. This is my hardware setup:

- IONITX F-E Motherboard
- Creative Inspire P5800 Speakers

I extract video through HDMI (everything working fine on this side). For the audio, I'm usin analog 3.5 mm mini-jack cables through the integrated motherboard audio card and into to the speakers. I mean the classic three color 3.5mm audio cables, like this:

The thing is, no matter the configuration options I choose, I only obtain stereo sound (rear speakers don't work). Prior to installing OpenELEC, I was using Windows XP on the same hardware and everything was working fine, so I suppose this is a driver / software issue. Could you give some guidance on how to fix it?

Thank you very much,
