Chromium (HTML5): Guide for Netflix / Amazon Prime - by: marv

After some requests i made a guide to seamlessly integrate Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant Video (both HTML5) on X86_64 machines. ARMs are not supported!

1a) You can either install chromium from the unofficial openelec repo (and install widevine in the settings!)
OR
1b) Download the Chromium Browser (thanks to chemstar!) and install it from

Download widevine to play HTML5 DRM content. You'll find it in the chrome browser package, download here (you need the linux version. I was using 64bit deb.):
www.google.de/chrome/browser/desktop/
Extract it with 7zip for example and copy widevine (libwidevinecdm.so) into .kodi/addons/browser.chromium/bin/

2) Download and install my addon to control chromium by remote. It's predefined for netflix, amazon prime:

CONFIGURATION

1) Chromium: Go to the addon settings and disable ASH ("Use ASH Desktop"), if it's available.

If you don't have sound using chromium go to the addon settings -> A/V and set your custom audio device in this format: "hw:<cardnumber>,<devicenumber>", for example "hw:1,0"
(ssh into your box and type "aplay -l" to find the correct devices/cards.)

3) Remote Control should work "out of the box" if you start netflix or amazon. To jump forward and backward press Right and Left. Up and Down or Volup/Voldown will control the volume. Stop will close chromium.
Unfortunately the only way to change subtitles and/or audio language is to use the mouse. There's no keyboard shortcut to use. BUT you can enable the mouse by pressing the Info Button. It toggles mouse control on/off (Left, Right, Up, Down and OK for left mouseclick).
If you want to change the Keys go to the addon settings.

INSTALL NETFLIX AND AMAZON PRIME INSTANT VIDEO

NETFLIX:
1) Install flix2kodi, which can be found here: forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=254263. all support concerning the netflix addon can be found there.
2) Install from alelec's repo the chrome launcher addon and in the settings chose the script '/storage/.kodi/addons/script.chromium_remotecontrol/chromium.sh'
3) in the flix2kodi settings chose "chromelauncher" as browser

AMAZON PRIME INSTANT VIDEO

1) I am using Sandmann's amazon (test) video addon. Download his repo here:

In the settings you can choose "batch/script" and point to the script '/storage/.kodi/addons/script.chromium_remotecontrol/chromium.sh'. As parameter define '{u}' only. After first launch of a video log into the website and allow fullscreen. After that it should work automatically.

Hello, this is a new add-on that makes it easy to use VPN connections from within OpenELEC

Features are :
- Manage Private Internet Access, IPVanish, VyprVPN, Invisible Browsing VPN, NordVPN, tigerVPN, Hide My Ass!, PureVPN, LiquidVPN, AirVPN, CyberGhost, Perfect Privacy, TorGuard, HideIPVPN, LimeVPN, VPN Unlimited, BTGuard VPN, ExpressVPN, SaferVPN, Celo VPN.ht, TotalVPN, WiTopia, proXPN, IVPN (untested), SecureVPN.to (untested), RA4W (untested) and VPNSecure (untested)
- Connect to VPN when Kodi starts and reconnect when necessary
- Connect to VPN before Kodi starts (LibreELEC only)
- Connect to different VPN profiles/locations (or disconnect entirely) depending on add-on in use
- Supports both UDP and TCP connections where available, using the default or user defined port
- Easy display and switching of profiles from a single button/remote key (see readme for how to set up)
- Display screen overlay of current system information from a single button/remote key (see readme for how to set up)
- Supported on OpenELEC 5 onwards, OSMC, other Linux based Kodi installs and Windows (see words in trouble shooting post below)
- Android not currently supported. It doesn't work and will just give you an error message.
- (and randomly a local network speed test utility and reboot timer...)

This is to inform you that I got OpenELEC working on my Himedia Q5 4K3D TV box based on the Hisilicon Hi3798CV100 SOC.
Originally this box is delivered with Android 4.4.2 and Kodi 15.2.

My development branch of OpenELEC can be found here: github.com/Spitzbube/OpenELEC.tv

At the moment the following features are working:
- Kernel 3.10 with kernel modules for the HW components of the Hisilicon SOC
- Ethernet / USB2+3
- Kodi with user interface via OpenGL ES/EGL with resolution up to 1080p/60
- Video decoding via FFMpeg
- No Audio
- Mouse/Keyboard but no IR remote control

Cant select source "movies or series" - by: DanielPT

Hi all. I have a big problem. I dont know what happend. But today i lost "Movies" and series" if i try to remove/add a "movie" folder the "scan" dosent start if i then click "edit conetnt" it sayes "the folder includes "nothing" like it igoneres i select "movies" Can you help? I tryed to restart..

Openelec 6.0.3.

Ok, got all bluetooth devices connect to kodi, newest version, on a asus chromebox. Everything works flawless. Its openelec installed on dual boot. All works, BUT when i restart mt box or when it goes in standby mode all bluetooth disconnects and wont automaticaly reconnect. I have to go back in with my wired mouse and re pair it all. Whats the deal?

hi guys im just looking a little help and i hope maybe this is the best place to ask .

I recently bought an iptv subscription with a provider. I am only able to play the channels on Android iptv but I would like to play it on kodi using addon playlist loader or kodi simple client live tv. the link is playing fine on vlc simple tv but not on kodi. can anyone help me out to find how can i play it on kodi please

I can't find Transmission Server addon anywhere at the addons (Official or Unnoficial).

Superrepo says:
This addons is excluded from the Isengard repositories as it depends on pvr.iptvsimple which is not available or has been excluded.

Is that right? Is transmission dead for OpenElec? I really need a good torrent downloader to my OpenElec box (Raspberry Pi 2).

I'm using the most recent version of OpenELEC Stable (6.0.3) , just downloaded it.

I have a WetekOpenElec Box - which is running Kodi Jarvis. I also have set up Unotelly Smart DNS and have alternate DNS addresses to enable me to view geo restricted sites.
My problem is that my ISP keeps changing the IP address. At present I update this by having the same system installed on my computer and I can update my IP from here.
My question is , is there any way that I can update my IP from within OpeElec, to save me being reliant upon the computer.

Hi

I have a IPTV link that has the .ts extention. On VLC on PC and on RP3-Openelec the stream stops after 30 sec. when i replay the link it continues but also for another 30 sec

In SimpleTV on PC the link plays for 30 sec, stops for half sec(probably doing some loading) and continues with the stream another 30 sec and it goes on like this

Is there a way that openelec/kodi can handle these .ts links properly?

I could not decide where this goes and I have placed it in Misc. If it goes somewhere else, admin / mod, please move topic.

OK, problem goes like this. I have RPi2B and latest version of OpenElec / Kodi installed (6.0.3). It does not play one MKV file.
Once i press play, i get the audio, but no video. Screen contense does not change (wether I start it from movies, or from files, display remains unchanged)

First, thanks for this amazing support of openelec....
when i customize skin of openelec and just installing it to openelec on raspberry pi 3 using usbstick.. its shows "addon does not have correct structure" ...
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
i m new to this ..

hey,
i m using raspberry pi 3 for openelec . i download zip file of skin.conq. and i just install in raspberry pi its worked perfect. but when i decompressed it from zip and again compressed it without touch its subfolder. its showing addon does not have correct structure... i want to customize the skin.
Is there a way to customize skin ?

Yes, audo works on libreelec. Libreelec however does not have a transmission addon in their repo. I added a build in my repo that works with libre 7.0.X it will not work on the alpha builds. I'll update it when they get out of alpha. I don't care to, or have time to support alpha builds. If you're running an alpha build its my option you should know how to build software yourself.
